THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE PRACTICE

An understanding of the whole.
A useful place to start.

The Neighborhood House draws on the strategy, design, and organizational work of 1970 Somethin’. Across businesses and nonprofits, we help people connect what they want to accomplish with how the work gets done.

CASE STUDY / NONPROFIT

Project Transition

Helping good programs work together.

Project Transition offered sports, STEM, creativity, leadership, and mentorship. The challenge was connecting those worthwhile experiences into a clearer path for young people.

We helped align programs, people, and partnerships around a shared approach to youth development, with a staged plan for growth.

What changed:
Clearer programs, more intentional partnerships, and a more coherent connection between the mission and the work.

A project of the broader 1970 Somethin’ practice.

CASE STUDY / BUSINESS

Emory Workforce Solutions

Helping a growing business work as one.

Emory’s ambition had grown beyond staffing placements. Its leadership, operations, sales, finance, and marketing needed to support that larger vision together.

We worked across the business to clarify priorities, connect sales with delivery capacity, and bring marketing, customer experience, and financial discipline into closer alignment.

What changed:
Stronger coordination, improved financial controls, and growth accompanied by increased profitability.

A project of the broader 1970 Somethin’ practice.

CLIENT WORK / DIGITAL EXPERIENCE

Canniverse

A complex plan, made easier to understand.

We translated Canniverse’s proposed ninety-day capital plan into a digital experience connecting priorities, deliverables, responsibilities, and the evidence needed to assess progress.

What we made

Strategic messaging, information design, and an interactive website.

What it helps people do

Understand the proposed plan, examine its assumptions, and see what must be demonstrated next.

Your first step can be small.

A clearer service page. A smoother customer handoff. A proposal that explains your value.

We consider the bigger picture, then agree on one useful piece of work.

02 / A SIMPLE WAY OF WORKING

Start with one useful result.

  1. 01

    Tell us what’s happening.

A brief conversation about what you’re trying to improve and what keeps getting in the way.

  2. 02

    Know what you’re agreeing to.

When there’s a fit, we propose a specific piece of paid work, with a clear scope, fee, and delivery date. You decide whether to proceed.

  3. 03

    Put the work to use.

We make what we agreed, help you use it, and check whether it helped.

03 / THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK

A neighborhood practice.
Someone you can talk to.

You’ll work directly with Mark Quest, founder of 1970 Somethin’.

My work brings together strategy, design, and practical problem-solving. I start by listening, make the next step clear, and follow through on what we agree.

OUR HOUSE IS ROOTED HERE.OUR DOOR IS OPEN.

04 / LET’S BEGIN WITH ONE THING

What’s one thing you’d like to make clearer, easier, or real?

A few honest sentences are enough. I’ll read them and reply personally.
